CHRISTMAS DAY HARBOUR SWIM – 398 SWIMMERS, ANOTHER RECORD!

A few thousand people lined the harbour to witness this annual Lions event where a record 398 swimmers took the plunge to raise £20,000 for a whole host of national and local charities. AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THE CSIDERS FROM THE LIONS

Members of the Lions Club presented Peter Meacham (R) of the Csiders with a £100 cheque in a show of support for this fledgling organisation. Peter Meacham said “C’Siders is a newly formed cancer support group in Weymouth and Portland. We offer opportunities for anyone who has been affected by cancer, whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment or recovered, to meet like-minded people, share experiences and learn from each other. LIONS CHRISTMAS SHOW – ANOTHER SELL-OUT

Every seat was taken in this 1000 seater theatre at the annual Lions Christmas Show for senior citizens where entry is free. The audience were entertained by a wealth of local talent headed up by that ever popular band 'Replay' who hit the right spot with their 50's & 60's numbers and led by our very own Lion, Norman Stagles. A high spot of the evening was the presentation of a 'Melvin Jones Fellowship Award' to Ann Stagles in recognition of the many years she has organised and produced this show along with her husband Norman.
