This evening saw Weymouth and Portland Lions Club welcome it’s third female member.  Barbara Mitchell was introduced to the club by its first female  member Julie Storey who joined just last year and she, along with fellow Lions, was delighted to welcome Barbara who is a busy member of the community with her voluntary work for both the Citizens Advice Bureau and Weymouth Pavilion. Weymouth & Portland Lions were out in force at Morrisons Supermarket in Weymouth raising funds for Marie Curie as part of a national campaign by Lions throughout the UK. A total of £534 was raised which earned them a grateful vote of thanks from Sue at Marie Curie.

Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October 2015 The Lion's Beach Motocross Weekend is Weymouth's premier and most exciting event of the autumn. Weymouth & Portland Lions organise the annual event jointly with Purbeck Motocross Club.  There is a full programme of entertainment on the Saturday afternoon with lots of stalls, retail outlets and children's amusements lining the Esplanade and on Sunday the excitement of the main race day itself. Weymouth and Portland Lions Club’s Charity Golf Day for 2015 was held on Friday 7th August and hailed as a great success raising some £1,800 for the club's charity fund. The format for the day was a ‘Texas Scramble’ with twelve teams of four taking part. The team from Bluebird Coaches (M Short, M Hoare, S Hoare and M Coles) defended their title by winning the trophy for a second year running with a score of 56.4. Runners up were Team Shirley (Walkers) (C Knight, D Slater, J Bower and L Skinner) with a score of 56.8, followed up in third place by a team from Dorchester & District Lions Cub ...

Around 250 people enjoyed a fantastic evening of fun and entertainment from Replay, Weymouth School of Ballet and Theatre Arts, and the Decadettes at the Pavilion on Friday night, raising funds for the British Heart Foundation and the Lions Charity Fund.

Lions Youth Brass, from South Cheshire, entertained the crowds in Weymouth on Saturday by giving open air concerts in the town centre and on the Esplanade. These talented and impressionable young people did themselves credit and certainly endeared themselves to the crowds that watched their performances.  Lions Youth Brass was formed in 1989 taking its name from the Lions Clubs around South Cheshire who agreed to sponsor the band through annual donations and still do to this day.
