  This evening saw Weymouth and Portland Lions Club welcome it’s third female member.  Barbara Mitchell was introduced to the club by its first female  member Julie Storey who joined just last year and she, along with fellow Lions, was delighted to welcome Barbara who is a busy member of the community with her voluntary work for both the Citizens Advice Bureau and Weymouth Pavilion. Lions out collecting for Marie Curie

Weymouth & Portland Lions were out in force at Morrisons Supermarket in Weymouth raising funds for Marie Curie as part of a national campaign by Lions throughout the UK. A total of £534 was raised which earned them a grateful vote of thanks from Sue at Marie Curie.

Christmas Day Swim 2017 – Another Record Breaker

A record 483 swimmers braved the elements for this year’s swim netting over £3,500 for the Weymouth & Portland Lions Club charity fund. Last year over £20,000 was raised for national and local charities and this year the club is hoping to beat that.The District Governor, Lion Peter Burnett and his wife Debbie were on hand this year to witness proceedings and very kindly ‘got stuck in’ handing out medals to each swimmer. The Lions Roar onto Weymouth Town Centre! A new and fantastic major event took place in Weymouth town centre ver the weekend of 27th & 28th June; the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club Out Loud Music Festival, featuring nearly 40 acts over two days. It all happened on a main stage in Debenhams Square and at 4 other performance sites in Weymouth Town Centre. Lions Club Charity Golf Day Raises £1,800

Golf Day
Weymouth and Portland Lions Club’s Charity Golf Day for 2015 was held on Friday 7th August and hailed as a great success raising some £1,800 for the club's charity fund. The format for the day was a ‘Texas Scramble’ with twelve teams of four taking part. The team from Bluebird Coaches (M Short, M Hoare, S Hoare and M Coles) defended their title by winning the trophy for a second year running with a score of 56.4. Lions Youth Brass Entertain in Weymouth

Lions Youth Brass, from South Cheshire, entertained the crowds in Weymouth on Saturday by giving open air concerts in the town centre and on the Esplanade. These talented and impressionable young people did themselves credit and certainly endeared themselves to the crowds that watched their performances.  Lions Youth Brass was formed in 1989 taking its name from the Lions Clubs around South Cheshire who agreed to sponsor the band through annual donations and still do to this day.
