A new buggy for ‘Lily Grace’.

W & P Lions have donated a specialised buggy to young Lily Grace Cleaver who is on the Autism Spectrum and has special needs which among many includes the fact that she is hypermobile which means she doesn't like to walk far and can't walk far, she has no concept of roads danger etc. The buggy means that the family can now go 'off road'. The Special Tomato Jogger is a versatile pushchair for children with special needs. New charity ‘Smile with Siddy’ gets a boost from the Lions

Lions Zone Chairman Peter Oswick presents Sally Matthews with a cheque for £1000. Lions from Blackmore Vale, Bridport, Dorchester and, Weymouth & Portland clubs have donated £1000 to fledgling charity 'Smile with Siddy'.  Sally Matthews spoke movingly about this new charity set up following the death three years ago from Neuroblastoma cancer of her 17 month old grandson Sidney.  Neuroblastoma is the most common of the 200 or so childhood cancers afflicting very young children.  It is very aggressive and difficult to diagnose as the symptons mimic other childhood diseases.  The cause is ...

DCH Cancer Charity gets some help from four Lions clubs

Lions from Blackmore Vale, Bridport, Dorchester and, Weymouth & Portland clubs gathered at DCH to present Rachel Cole, Fundraising & Communications Manager for the DCH Cancer Appeal with a cheque for £1000. The four clubs that form 'Zone 1A', a section of the 60 clubs in this District, contribute to a fund that is dispersed annually to charities and good causes in the communities local to these clubs. The Lions always strive to ensure that funds raised from their various events throughout the year are given back to their local communities to worthy causes such as this.

Bellinger Trophy – and the winner is ……………….BRIDPORT!

The first ever ‘Weymouth Wade’ a great success!

Weymouth beach was buzzing on Easter Sunday when the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club’s new event, the “Weymouth Wade” was launched. Demonia the Sea Witch from Pirates of the Caribbean and Roger the Lion helped Gina Hartley kick things off with a rousing warm-up session. Over 50 waders then took to the sea and splashed their way from the Pavilion, and then back along the sands to the finish. TALKING NEWSPAPER GETS A LITTLE HELP FROM THE LIONS

Weymouth & Portland Lions have donated £200 to South West Dorset Talking Newspaper (SWDTN) for new equipment.
