LIONS CELEBRATE UN DAY WITH THE MAYOR

Lion President Roger Hogbin joined with the Mayor of Weymouth & Portland, Councillor Kevin Brookes, to celebrate UN Day at a flag raising ceremony at the Council offices. Roger was invited to speak on behalf of Lions and said "United Nations Day is a particular cause for celebration for the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club. TRAVELLING LION MEETS THE ‘ROCK’ LIONS

Weymouth & Portland Lions Vice President Chris Bill met up with fellow Lions of the Gibraltar club whilst on holiday there recently. Chris said that they made him and his wife, Carmen, very welcome. Lions Entertain the Town Centre Shoppers

The Weymouth and Portland Lions Club held its annual “Busk” in the town centre. It was a lovely sunny, September day with hundreds of local people and visitors gathering in the town centre. They were treated to a wonderful and very enjoyable musical experience; musicians, led by the very popular local band Replay, entertained the crowds. Supporting acts included Ken Watkins, Blazing Strings, Wyke Ukedelics, Brian Lincoln and Weymouth’s own talented singer and dancer, 12 year old Maisie Sheridan. A DOUBLE FIRST FOR THE LIONS CARNIVAL FLOAT

We had a great time at Carnival yesterday winning a first in two categories for our float, the Community category and the Charity category. We gave the Community prize to the young ladies in their Lion cub costumes of the 'Lets Dance Group' for their enthusiastic support which we thought only right and proper. Well done kids, you were brilliant, thank you. Good luck to Molly and Imogen at the Dance World Cup

These two young ladies have been chosen to represent their country at an international dance event. Their names are Molly Thorne and Imogen Breaks, both dance with Weymouth Dane Studio, and have been chosen as finalists in the Dance World Cup, being held in Offenberg, Germany, starting this weekend. The competition is basically the equivalent of the Olympic Games for dancing and they have been chosen to represent team England with their duet.
