Lions enter into the spirit of Carnival

The theme of the float this year was the Greatest Showman" and our entry featured the young dancers from Julie Storey's "Lets Dance" group as well as president Roger and other Lions dressed up as clowns, and with club supporters joining in the fun in various silly costumes. The club's vice president bravely appeared as the bearded lady from the "Showman" movie. ‘The Good Samaritans’

Lions Clubs from Zone 1A ( Bridport, Blackmore Vale, Dorchester and, Weymouth & Portland ) chose the Samaritans as the recipients of the annual 'good cause' donation. March For Men – A Family Event

Preparations are well under way for the annual Weymouth Beach Race that will take place on Sunday 28th October and Weymouth & Portland Lions Club would like to invite you to be a part of this years event. Christmas Day Swim 2017 – Another Record Breaker

A record 483 swimmers braved the elements for this year’s swim netting over £3,500 for the Weymouth & Portland Lions Club charity fund. Last year over £20,000 was raised for national and local charities and this year the club is hoping to beat that.The District Governor, Lion Peter Burnett and his wife Debbie were on hand this year to witness proceedings and very kindly ‘got stuck in’ handing out medals to each swimmer. Wizard of Oz sketch by Lions Club members Weymouth & Portland Lions Club put on a cracking show for the Senior Citizens of the Borough at their annual Christmas Show with all seats taken. Entertainment was provided by a wealth of local talent at no cost to the Lions for which they are extremely grateful. ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHRISTMAS DAY HARBOUR SWIM 2017?

  Every year thousands of people line the harbour at Weymouth to witness this annual Lions event which has become a landmark event for the town.  Nearly 400 swimmers took the plunge last year, which was a record for us, raising over £20,000 for a whole host of national and local charities. This year each swimmer will be presented with one of these medals to commemorate the event which is, incidentally, the Lions centennial year.
