For over 30 years the Purbeck Motocross Club has organised the Weymouth Beach Motocross event in association with the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club. This year the event will take place on Sunday 16th October when over 300 riders will battle it out in a series of races throughout the afternoon across the golden sands of Weymouth beach.
Thousands of spectators are expected and they will be treated to the exciting thrills and occasional spills as the riders, graded into Experts, Seniors and Juniors, race their formidable machines across the beach at speed, and then manoeuvre them over the obstacles. Sand will fly and the seafront will again reverberate with the loud noise of the bike’s powerful engines. Clad in safety helmets, full body armour and specially designed boots, the daring riders will put on a series of electrifying displays that will delight the crowds.
This is a free event but the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club members, who play an important and critical supporting role, will sell programmes and merchandise, and collect donations on the prom, with all net proceeds going to local charities and good causes. There will also be trade stands selling food and drink and other goods, giving spectators a comprehensive and amazing event experience. One not to be missed!
