Lion Russ Woolley has been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship

This is the highest award a Lion can receive and is given by Lions Clubs International to Lions who are nominated by their peers for outstanding service to Lions, their club and to the community at large.

Russ, a retired Police Officer, has been a member of Weymouth & Portland Lions Club since 1995. In that time he has been very active and has been President no less than four times, he has also held the post of Membership Chairman for many years and is also the club Almoner and Youth Officer.

The award was made on behalf of Lions International by Lion Peter Burnett, Vice District Governor of Lions District 105d, at the club’s annual Charter Dinner at the Hotel Rembrandt, Weymouth.

The Vice District Governor also took the opportunity to award Lion Norman Stagles with a 35 year, service to Lions, cheveron.
