‘Weymouth Wade’ – A new fun event for the family on Easter Sunday April 16th

Weymouth and Portland Lions Club are delighted to announce their new Weymouth event, the WEYMOUTH WADE!

Sea jogging is a new craze that is sweeping the country and lots of people are having fun, jogging through the water; keeping fit and raising money for good causes.

The event will take place on EASTER SUNDAY at 11am, with registration between 9.30am and 10.30am on the beach near the Pavilion. Entry will be just £5 and it is open to everybody from the age of 5 upwards. There will be 3 categories: 16 and over, 12-15 and 5-11. (These to be accompanied by an adult). Fancy Dress is optional!

The races will take place in shallow water, with a jog in the sea to a point level with the King’s statue, then a jog along the sand back to the finish. Joggers will receive a commemorative medal and the winners of the 3 categories will be presented with a prize by Weymouth’s Mayor, Cllr. Richard Kosior.

All net proceeds from this event will go to the Lions Charity Fund. Registration will take place on the day at the Lions Gazebo at the Pavilion end of Weymouth beach and there will be entry fee of £5.00.

Registration will open at 0930 and close at 1030 with a warm up at 1050 and race start at 1100. Prizes will be presented to winners of each category and a commemorative medal for each Wader.

Gina Hartley of Healthy Heart Hartley will organise a warm-up before the race, just like the Christmas Chase the Pudding Race. Gina says “it will be a great way of starting the day, taking in the sea air and with a bit of exercise, not to mention lots of fun! We will also be encouraging people to wear fancy dress, just like the swim”

Please download (or click on the form to open up a pdf which you can print) and complete this Registration Form and bring it with you on the day to save time.
