‘Weymouth Wade’ – A new fund raising event for Weymouth – Easter Sunday April 16th

Events on 16 Apr , 2017

This will be a wading race through the sea from the Pavilion to either the clock (adults) or to the statue (children). It will take place at low tide at a distance from the shore where, for average height participants, the sea will be around knee height. Participants will be invited (not compulsory) to wear fancy dress, which will conform to a theme (TBA). They will run back to the start/finish along the sand, approx half a mile for children and a mile for adults.

This will be a similar format to our Christmas Day Swim where those taking part will be invited to raise funds for a charity of their choice, a good cause or the Lions Charity Fund. ‘Waders’ will be invited to register online prior to the event and will be asked to pay an entry fee of £5.

‘Checking in’ on the day will take place in the foyer of the Pavilion and will open at 0930 and close at 1030 with a warm up at 1050 and race start  at 1100. Prizes and medals will be presented to winners of each category and runners up.

Further details on how to register online will be published soon – watch this space. We will also publish on social media, the local press and radio.
