Ryan steps onto the ladder of succession!

Weymouth & Portland Lions club member, Ryan Hope, who already chairs the club's very busy Activities Committee, has put himself forward to become the next President of the club. He received his chain of office from the current President, Roger Hogbin, at the clubs monthly dinner meeting. Message In A Bottle (MIB) – A winner with the public!

4,000 Message in a Bottle (MIB) have been given out over the last two years, increasing year on year, to improve the safety of citizens in the borough of Weymouth and Portland. The water is fine, get signed up for the swim now!

Lions club members were down at Weymouth Harbour this morning with the Mayor and Mayoress testing the water for the annual Lions Christmas Day Swim and they think the water is just about right! Lions were ably assisted by Muddles, the Court Jester, played by Gwynfryn West, from the production of Sleeping Beauty now showing at Weymouth Pavilion. 170 have already signed up for the swim so don't leave it too late if you want to take part in this unique event.

Lions Annual Christmas Show – Another ‘Sell Out’!

Wizard of Oz sketch by Lions Club members Weymouth & Portland Lions Club put on a cracking show for the Senior Citizens of the Borough at their annual Christmas Show with all seats taken. Entertainment was provided by a wealth of local talent at no cost to the Lions for which they are extremely grateful. The evening started off with the lovely Pzazz Dancers who set a few pulses racing, followed by WOW who sang and danced their way through songs from the shows with a precision and professionalism beyond their young years. ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHRISTMAS DAY HARBOUR SWIM 2017?

  Every year thousands of people line the harbour at Weymouth to witness this annual Lions event which has become a landmark event for the town.  Nearly 400 swimmers took the plunge last year, which was a record for us, raising over £20,000 for a whole host of national and local charities. This year each swimmer will be presented with one of these medals to commemorate the event which is, incidentally, the Lions centennial year. WEYMOUTH BEACH MOTOCROSS 2017 – SPECTACULAR SUCCESS!

On Sunday the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club together with the Purbeck Motocross Club held the 35th annual Weymouth Beach Motocross. The event was an absolutely spectacular success, with 344 brave riders taking part and over 20,000 spectators lining the seafront.
