  Preparations are well under way for the annual Weymouth Beach Race that will take place on Sunday 13th October and Weymouth & Portland Lions Club would like to invite you to be a part of this year’s event. The first ever ‘Weymouth Wade’ a great success!

Weymouth beach was buzzing on Easter Sunday when the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club’s new event, the “Weymouth Wade” was launched. Demonia the Sea Witch from Pirates of the Caribbean and Roger the Lion helped Gina Hartley kick things off with a rousing warm-up session. Over 50 waders then took to the sea and splashed their way from the Pavilion, and then back along the sands to the finish. TALKING NEWSPAPER GETS A LITTLE HELP FROM THE LIONS

Weymouth & Portland Lions have donated £200 to South West Dorset Talking Newspaper (SWDTN) for new equipment. SWDTN Spokesperson Eleanor Smith said "South West Dorset Talking Newspaper for the Visually Impaired produces a weekly round up of local news, and also a magazine, for the blind and visually impaired.   The charity is totally run by volunteers, there are over 70 of us, divided into groups, so readers only have to read every 6 weeks or so.  The Charity is in its’ 30th year this year, and started from very humble beginnings.  Originally run from one of the founders lounge, the...

Lion Russ Woolley has been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship

This is the highest award a Lion can receive and is given by Lions Clubs International to Lions who are nominated by their peers for outstanding service to Lions, their club and to the community at large. Lions Donate £550 to ‘Kids Cancer Charity’

Weymouth & Portland Lions are delighted to support this appeal by the charity to support a caravan holiday for a Weymouth family who have a child who has been diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing cancer treatment. Weymouth & Portland Lions say thank you to Hope Church for the use of the church rooms for Registration at their Christmas Day Harbour Swim. This year, for the first time, rooms above the church were made available for registration which made it a lot easier to cope with the ever increasing numbers of swimmers.
