Members of Weymouth & Portland Lions were once again out in force on Tuesday 4th July at the Chatsworth Hotel on Weymouth Esplanade to celebrate the annual handover of the Club’s President and Vice-President positions.
Members and invited guests tucked into a menu of steak and lobster on the night before the formal part of the evening got under way.
Incoming club President Lion Julie Storey presented Lion Kevin Brookes with a glass plaque from the club as a thank you for his year as Club President.
Kevin Brookes said,” Although Covid – 19 was officially over, during my year as President, the club has gone through a period of major change after leaving the Rembrandt Hotel where we needed to find secure locations for regular monthly business meetings, social events, and a suitable venue for dinner meetings”.
The club would like to thank Moon fleet Bowls Club for allowing the club to hold monthly business meetings in the clubhouse and The Chatsworth Hotel for playing host to future dinner meetings.
Julie Storey was making club history on the night by being not only the first female Lion in the club, but also the first to become President. Congratulations Julie.
Lion Ryan Hope has become the new Vice-President.
