LADY LION NUMBER THREE

This evening saw Weymouth and Portland Lions Club welcome it’s third female member.  Barbara Mitchell was introduced to the club by its first female  member Julie Storey who joined just last year and she, along with fellow Lions, was delighted to welcome Barbara who is a busy member of the community with her voluntary work for both the Citizens Advice Bureau and Weymouth Pavilion.

Club President Ryan Hope conducted the formalities and said “it is great that Barbara has joined our Lions Club and she will no doubt make a great contribution with her wealth of experience”
Barbara was very pleased to become part of what is the largest voluntary organisation in the world with its 1.35 million members.

Now in its 50th year, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club continues to respond to requests to assist local causes and worldwide disasters with monies raised from donations and its many fundraising events such as the Weymouth Beach Motocross, town centre busk and Christmas Day harbour swim.

The club meets twice a month at the Hotel Rembrandt where the business of the club is conducted in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
