Lions Annual Christmas Show – Another ‘Sell Out’!

Wizard of Oz sketch by Lions Club members

Weymouth & Portland Lions Club put on a cracking show for the Senior Citizens of the Borough at their annual Christmas Show with all seats taken.

Entertainment was provided by a wealth of local talent at no cost to the Lions for which they are extremely grateful. The evening started off with the lovely Pzazz Dancers who set a few pulses racing, followed by WOW who sang and danced their way through songs from the shows with a precision and professionalism beyond their young years. Matt Black, a regular to the show, entertained with jokes and anecdotes whilst displaying considerable talent at the piano. The Lions Club members kicked off the second half after the interval with an amusing sketch on the Wizard of Oz which featured 12-year-old Maisie Sheriden who sang ‘Over the Rainbow’ to great applause. Darren Garnett, ‘The Voice of Cool Swing’, another regular, gave his usual polished performance to a very receptive audience. The final performance came from that ever-popular local band, ‘Replay’, fronted by Lions Club member Norman Stagles, who hit just the right note with hits from the 50’s & 60’s and supported by vocals from Norman’s wife ‘Annie Mac’. The whole show was compered by Lion member Russ Woolley who kept the evening flowing with his own brand of humour.
