Lions enter into the spirit of Carnival

The theme of the float this year was the Greatest Showman” and our entry featured the young dancers from Julie Storey’s “Lets Dance” group as well as president Roger and other Lions dressed up as clowns, and with club supporters joining in the fun in various silly costumes. The club’s vice president bravely appeared as the bearded lady from the “Showman” movie.

A small team built and decorated the float on the morning of carnival day, fuelled by bacon sarnies and coffee, and at 6.30pm it was put to the test as the procession got underway, making its way down the mile long Weymouth seafront.

About 90 minutes later, having been greeted by many thousands of people lining Weymouth esplanade, a tired team made it to the finish. It was another successful and fulfilling day out for the Weymouth and Portland Lions club and their friends.
