Lions Entertain the Town Centre Shoppers

The Weymouth and Portland Lions Club held its annual “Busk” in the town centre. It was a lovely sunny, September day with hundreds of local people and visitors gathering in the town centre. They were treated to a wonderful and very enjoyable musical experience; musicians, led by the very popular local band Replay, entertained the crowds. Supporting acts included Ken Watkins, Blazing Strings, Wyke Ukedelics, Brian Lincoln and Weymouth’s own talented singer and dancer, 12 year old Maisie Sheridan. Also entertaining the crowd was Lesley the Lion, the club’s mascot, who helped the Lion’s club members collect an amazing £1,020. All of this will go to Lions good causes and the club would like to thank everybody who took part, as well as members of the public for supporting the show and for their kindness and generosity in making a donation.

The next Lions event will be the very popular Beach Motocross on Sunday 22nd October, which we anticipate being another very exciting event in the club’s programme. Then there is the Senior Citizens Christmas Show at the Pavilion followed by the Christmas Day harbour swim, when we hope to exceed the 300 intrepid swimmers who took part last year. We expect to see you all again soon!
