Lions Youth Brass, from South Cheshire, entertained the crowds in Weymouth on Saturday by giving open air concerts in the town centre and on the Esplanade. These talented and impressionable young people did themselves credit and certainly endeared themselves to the crowds that watched their performances. Lions Youth Brass was formed in 1989 taking its name from the Lions Clubs around South Cheshire who agreed to sponsor the band through annual donations and still do to this day. They are down here in Dorset on their annual Southern Tour raising funds for Lions Clubs in the area.
They have quickly established themselves as a leading Youth Brass Band winning a national title in 1994 and again in 1995. Since 1990 a Beginner and Junior Band have provided a constant flow of young talent for the Youth Band by teaching 100’s of young people, often from scratch. Many past members have gone on to play with leading adult Bands.
