TWO NEW MEMBERS TO THE CLUB

Our March dinner meeting saw Weymouth and Portland Lions welcome two new members to the club.  Hilary Maxwell was introduced to the club by Lion Kevin Brookes and Dave Taylor was introduced by Lion Trevor Stratton. Hilary, a gynae-oncology clinical nurse specialist at Dorset County Hospital NHS Trust, and Dave, a local guest house owner, were both welcomed into the club by President Ryan Hope who conducted the official formalities for the evening and said he was “delighted that Hilary and Dave have joined our Lions Club and they will no doubt make a great contribution with their wealth and breadth of experience”.

Hilary and Dave were very pleased to become part of what is the largest voluntary organisation in the world with its 1.35 million members.

Now in its 51st year, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club continues to respond to requests to assist local causes and worldwide disasters, with monies raised from donations and its many fundraising events such as the Weymouth Beach Motocross, town centre busk and Christmas Day harbour swim.

The club meets twice a month at the Hotel Rembrandt where the business of the club is conducted in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
