Weymouth & Portland Lions have donated £500 to ‘The Will Mackaness Trust’ to help fund their swimming lesson project.
Brian Willett , Chairman of The Will Mackaness Trust says ‘ The Trustees are delighted to receive such a generous donation from the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club , which will enable us to fund swimming lessons for more young people from the area ‘.

Pam Govier , Trustee and founder says ‘ The Will Mackaness Trust was established to get young people from the area to participate in water based activities , such as sailing and wind surfing . We then identified a need for some youngsters to learn to swim before they could participate fully in these activities . As a result of this support from The Lions , a small group of young people , aged 11 plus , will attend 2 terms of swimming lessons in Weymouth . By the end of the lessons , these non-swimmers will be able to swim confidently for at least 25 metres ‘.

President of Weymouth & Portland Lions Club, Les Board, said ‘The Lions are always please to help fund projects where young people will benefit and we are delighted to help in this case’.
