A BIG THANK YOU TO WEYMOUTH FOR A VERY SUCCESSFUL LIONS CONVENTION

As the representatives of the Lions Clubs of the southern central part of England, from Henley on Thames in the North to the Channel Islands, left Weymouth on 24 March after their annual Convention, Lion Steve Spencer said:  “Everyone agreed what a fantastic weekend we had, due to the efficiency of the staff of the Best Western Rembrandt Hotel and the friendly welcome we got from the people of Weymouth”.

Proceedings were open by the Mayor,  Councillor Gill Taylor who later attended the Convention banquet in the evening. Seen here with the District Governor, Lion Ken Staniforth, receiving his personal banner.

Convention committee member, Lion Steve Spencer, went on to say “the Lions Clubs International motto is “We Serve”, and our ethos is that we enjoy what we do, and have FUN whilst we serve. We certainly had fun this last weekend in Weymouth, whilst working to develop our plans to serve our communities – locally, nationally and worldwide. We are proud to be Lions, and of what we achieve together: helping those in need locally, eradicating preventable blindness (our oldest project), or our newer battles such as those to eradicate measles and diabetes.”

W&P Lions Club members, Kevin Brookes, John Cake and John Davies presented a high profile as Host Club members.
