LIONS ANNUAL STREET BUSK

Help local Lions’ roar past the £20,000 target. Weymouth & Portland Lions Club’s annual street busk is planned to go ahead on Saturday 23rd July in Weymouth Town Centre and they would like to invite up-and-coming local musicians and entertainers to join them in making this a very special fundraising year. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION & £200 LIONS DONATION

Weymouth & Portland Lions Club Vice President, Lion Kevin Brookes awarded a Lions Certificate of Appreciation and also made a £200 Lions Club donation to LCAG. (Littlemoor Community Action Group). A local support group who operate from the Littlemoor Community Centre and who set up a food bank and distribution service at the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic back in March 2020. A ROARSOME DONATION TO PORTLAND FOOD BANK

Portland residents relying on their local food bank during the coronavirus pandemic are to benefit from a generous £200.00 donation by Weymouth & Portland Lions Club. Although all UK based Lions Clubs are in lock down and are not able to meet on a regular basis or carry out their normal fundraising activities. They were still able to keep Portland food bank topped up with essential supplies with this generous donation.

LIONS DONATE £500 TO M.V.FREEDOM

Lions President Ryan Hope and Kevin the Lion were out and about mingling with volunteers and supporters of M.V. Freedom at the Pavilion Theatre in Weymouth recently, presenting them with a bumper cheque for £500 together with a Lions certificate of appreciation. TWO NEW MEMBERS TO THE CLUB

Our March dinner meeting saw Weymouth and Portland Lions welcome two new members to the club.  Hilary Maxwell was introduced to the club by Lion Kevin Brookes and Dave Taylor was introduced by Lion Trevor Stratton. LIONS DONATION IS A GREAT LIFT

With help from the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, the Osprey Leisure Centre on Portland has now been able to replace the swimming pool hoist.  The hoist allows the disabled swimmers to access the pool safely .  In the picture Lions Dave Woolford and Trevor Stratton are seen presenting a cheque for £1000 to John Jennison a member of the Leisure centre staff.

As the world is gripped by the devastating series of massive bushfires across Australia, Weymouth & Portland Lions Club is doing its bit. All Lions Clubs in the UK are launching an appeal to support the victims of the tragedy and have already donated in excess of A$250,000 in advance. The money will go directly to local Lions Clubs in the affected area in Australia and they can make the decision what is needed, as this may vary in different areas. 100 per cent of the money goes to victims of the disaster.
