Lions Donate £550 to ‘Kids Cancer Charity’

Weymouth & Portland Lions are delighted to support this appeal by the charity to support a caravan holiday for a Weymouth family who have a child who has been diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing cancer treatment. Weymouth & Portland Lions say thank you to Hope Church for the use of the church rooms for Registration at their Christmas Day Harbour Swim. This year, for the first time, rooms above the church were made available for registration which made it a lot easier to cope with the ever increasing numbers of swimmers. CHRISTMAS DAY HARBOUR SWIM – 398 SWIMMERS, ANOTHER RECORD!

A few thousand people lined the harbour to witness this annual Lions event where a record 398 swimmers took the plunge to raise £20,000 for a whole host of national and local charities. AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THE CSIDERS FROM THE LIONS

Members of the Lions Club presented Peter Meacham (R) of the Csiders with a £100 cheque in a show of support for this fledgling organisation. Every seat was taken in this 1000 seater theatre at the annual Lions Christmas Show for senior citizens where entry is free. The audience were entertained by a wealth of local talent headed up by that ever popular band 'Replay' who hit the right spot with their 50's & 60's numbers and led by our very own Lion, Norman Stagles. A new iPad for a visually impaired local lad

Advisory Teacher Margaret Townsend at Vision Support Services receives the iPAD from Lion President Mark Lockie, supported by club members, on behalf of her client. Margaret then went on to say " Once again thank you so much for your work to provide the iPad for the pupil at Budmouth College.
